Fashion in Detroit: Men’s Style

We recently attended the third annual Fashion in Detroit on March 10, 2012 at the Motor City Casino Hotel.  This awesome event was created to celebrate local designers and the budding fashion talent in Detroit.  Motor City Casino’s Sound Board was packed with media types, fashion design students, models, and of course fashion-lovers who gathered to watch ten runway shows.

Men’s fashion was well-represented with shows by Bachrach, Neiman Marcus and Joe Faris’ Motor City Blues denim line.  Bachrach showed both casual styles and sophisticated suits with greys and purples as shown below in the photo of local event promoter Rick Pink from Elive Entertainment (a sponsor of Fashion in Detroit) as he walks the runway.

At the Neiman Marcus show there were bright colors from denim to jackets to weekend bags.  Color blocking seems to be just as big for guys this season!  The fun and colorful styles seemed easy to put together and right on trend for the warmer weather.

The finale of the show were the combined designs by co-hosts of Fashion in Detroit,  Joe Faris of Motor City Blues and jewelry designer Denise Ilitch of Denise Ilitch Designs.  There were plenty of relaxed looks with Detroit Red Wing logos on t-shirts, casual denim and of course, the acccessories.  Perfect for weekends, especially in Detroit.  Overall, the show was impressive and a great way to celebrate all that Detroit has to offer in the way of fashion for both men and women.
